The availability of air is vital for the root development of your crops. Roots need to breathe and an aerated substrate causes more root hairs to be produced. Oxygen is needed to convert sugars into energy. Using this energy, the roots can expand and actively supply more nutrients to the rest of your crop.
This is why it is essential that a substrate offers a high percentage of air. Any aerated substrate provides adequate drainage and a continuous air supply.
For this reason, Atami has launched Atami High Porosity Cocos, a substrate that offers the advantages of growing in high quality aged, washed, buffered and fertilized cocos with the added advantage of perlite aeration.
